How to set up and use smart fields?

Smart fields make your workflow faster and more efficient... if you know how to use them, of course!

Using the smart fields feature on Bounsel allows templates to be flexible and practical for all kinds of contracts and documents.

In the side toolbar, the top icon will open the smart field section.

Two smart fields already exist; they are the start and end date of the contract.

Click on “Select a date…” to open up the calendar and select the dates you need.

By clicking the three dots "Options" icon you can set up the date format you prefer to see.

If you decide to use the two preset smart fields you can drag them into the document wherever you need them. If not, you can create new ones.

Click on the "Add smart field" button and type in the name for the smart field. You can edit it at any time.

Drag the smart field you want and drop it in where you need in the document.

By changing the value of the smart field, the document will update automatically without altering the template.

PRO TIP: if you tap on the smart field in the text, it will highlight the associated smart field in the section on the right, so you don’t get anything mixed up.

The smart field doesn’t only work for text values and dates, you can also set up selections.

Click on the icon to the right of the smart field name and select the type of smart field you want to use (Text, Calendar, Selection, Currency, Number or Attachment).

If you choose "Selection" and then click on the three dots "Options" icon, you'll be able to set up the values.

You can add possible values, decide which connector you'd like to use, and choose between "Single" and "Multiple" types of selection.

Once you've submitted your settings you'll be able to access your choices and select the one you need from the same right-side panel.

If you add a Currency smart field, you'll be able to insert a numeric value and choose the currency by clicking the "Options" button.
