Many different people participate in the contract review process. With Bounsel, you can speed up the process and improve communication among your team. Apart from sharing your document with other team members, you can also use the Approval feature to collaborate and get feedback on your document before signing it.
To set up approvals, click on the checkmark icon in the side toolbar of the Bounsel Editor.
The blue "Request approval" button will open a pop-up where you'll be able to select whose approval you need. Both external and internal users can approve documents for free.
Write in the name or email of the person you need the approval from and click on the "+" to add them. The name will now appear with a blue checkmark on the right.
You can request as many approvals as you need. Click "Done" to finish the process.
Nice, you've successfully set up approvals! You'll now be able to see them in the Approvals section on the document's sidebar. The icon next to the name will inform you about the status of the approval.
A yellow clock means the approval is pending. You can still edit the document while it's waiting for approval.
If an approval gets rejected, a red X symbol on the right of the person's name will appear.
You can click the message icon to open a chat section where you'll be able to see the reason for the rejection (if the person has given one) and reply to it. Then you can keep messaging with the other person until they finally approve the document (which they can do at any moment).
If you're on the receiving end of a request of approval, you'll get a pop-up message on the document where you can simply select the green thumbs-up icon to approve it or the red thumbs-down icon to reject it.
If you reject it, a message will appear to confirm your choice and you'll have the option to give a reason for your rejection.
If you decide to leave a message, this will allow the chat with the other members to open and you will be able to communicate further.
By opening the chat you'll also have the chance to approve the document at a later moment by clicking the small green thumbs-up icon on the top right corner of the chat window.
The Approval section will keep track of the missing approvals and let you know which ones have already been finalized.
Keep editing the document until it gets approved by everyone. While approvals are pending, the document will appear as 'Under Review' in your Documents repository.
Once everyone approves the document, you will see a green checkmark badge next to 'Approvals'.
And your document will appear as Approved in the repository.
